Hi Angela. I've been washing my hair for the past two months with just plain old soap (natural of course :) ) but it's leaving my hair really oily and straw like. I've been thinking about using bicab or vinegar (or both) but have been too lazy so far. I'll have to give the bicarb a go now!

Have you ever tried washing your hair with 2-4 teaspoons of bi carb soda diluted in a cup of water? Works a treat. I have butt length hair and went water only on it for six months and would have liked to have made it permanent, but while it helped wean my scalp off shampoo, I wasn't completely happy. Bicarb works really well. Very cheap! Works every bit as well as, or better than, any shampoo I've used.

Hi Suellen
I've used both the Sukin and Ecostore and found them both to be good. There is a massive market online for natural stuff, but hard to buy in store. I hope that you are feeling better soon and that switching to natural helps.

Hi,
Im sick an tired of being itchy, sore skin sore scalp and an upset stomach so I decided to do something about if.

For my skin so far I found an australian product called Sukin to be good and another which is hard to purchase Avado. These seem ok and apparently 100% natural and the Sukin is a carbon neutral product so if this is true Im real impressed cause if cheap.

Available from chemists and discount pharmacys.

As for cleaning products to clean my home, I too think that synthetic scents STINK so Im real keen to use as many homemade products as possible.

At this stage I use Ecostore washing powder and stuff for the kitchen.

Looking forward to learning more from your site.

Hi, thanks for the well wishes, still waiting, waiting.

I think about homemade shampoo and conditioner alternatives (mostly because I hate the idea of all the plastic bottles) but I haven't got past thinking about it yet.
I used to rinse my hair out in lemon juice and water when I was a kid, don't know why, maybe to lighten it?

Hello Melissa

I think that the shampoo you mentioned may well be the one my daughter uses (and likes) which claims no sles, sls, ols, oles, parabens and petrochemicals. It gets to be annoying reading endless labels and then really needing a science degree to decipher the information (and also needing my glassed on for the small print :-) ) I rinse my hair in vinegar now but have not had much success washing it with bicarb like some do. It is a chemical mine-field out there and I agree that it is difficult to find appropriate affordable alternatives. Well done on the research, it will be good to see your e-book in the future. Hope you are keeping well and these last days are not dragging too much for you! :-)
