These tasty little morsels are so incredibly easy to make, inexpensive and very popular. Great finger food for parties for both adults and kids alike. They also make great lunchbox treats.

Whenever I take a plate of these to an event, they are gone in minutes.

These are easy because they use store-bought puff pastry. No mucking around with pastry dough.

There are two types of puff pastry you’ll find in the freezer section at the supermarket. The first is regular puff pastry and the second is puff pastry made with butter.

The butter puff pastry is more expensive and a little fiddly to work with but it does taste amazing. It browns up nicely in the oven and has a lovely flaking texture.

However, the regular puff pastry works just fine and is cheaper, so go with the one that works for you.

You can put your favourite toppings on your pizza scrolls. We like to add pineapple for ham and pineapple or mushroom and capsicum to increase the veggie count. You can also add some fresh herbs or chopped sundried tomatoes for a more adult flavour.

And for a vegetarian version, just leave out the ham.

How to Make Pizza Scrolls

These scrolls are super easy to make. Here are the step by step instructions.

1. Spread Puff Pastry With Pizza Sauce

Spread the pizza sauce over the defrosted puff pastry. Leave a 2cm gap at the top to seal the scrolls once you roll them.

2. Sprinkle with Your Favourite Toppings

Sprinkle your favourite toppings over the pizza sauce. You can be more generous than I was in the photo. We were running low on ingredients. We used ham, mushrooms and pineapple on our pizza scrolls.

3. Top Pizza Scrolls With Cheese

Sprinkle cheese generously over the top. Make sure you get it all the way to the edges so they end scrolls have plenty of filling in them.

4. Roll Up The Pastry

Before you start rolling, brush a little water on the bare bit of pastry. This will help seal the scroll.

Starting at the bottom, roll up the pastry into a scroll.

Gently press the pastry roll onto the damp pastry to seal well.

5. Cut into Slices

Cut the roll evenly into eight slices. Start in the middle and cut in half. Then cut each half into quarters. Then halve those quarters until you have eight pieces.

Alternatively, you can cut into 1 cm pieces. This will make the scrolls smaller but they will go further.

6. Bake the Scrolls

Place the pizza scrolls cut side down onto a prepared baking tray. Bake in a hot oven for 20 minutes or until golden and bubbling.

Serve warm or cold and enjoy.
