food blog roundup – 10 favourite food blogs

Do you have a food blog that you love to read? While I’ve come across a couple, I’m always on the look out for new food blogs, especially Australian ones. In my more cashed up (pre-mortgage) years, I used to love food magazines. Now I can indulge in my recipe cravings with free food blogs.

Below are some of my favourite food blogs. For me, the key to a wonderful food blog is the photography. Some of the photos on the blogs below are so professional and very, very tempting.

cookalmostanything

Cook (Almost) Anything At Least Once
An Australian food blog with plenty of gorgeous recipes.

nourish me Nourish Me
Another Australian blog with recipes, food thoughts and a little extra.
joyofbaking Joy of Baking
This is a site that I just keep coming back to again and again for baking ideas
sproutedkitchen Sprouted Kitchen
Whole food, mostly vegetarian cooking.
brokeassgourmet Broke Ass Gourmet
Some of these recipes are pretty pricey for someone who is actually broke, but the recipes are scrummy nevertheless.
thekitchen The Kitchn
Not just recipes but kitchen tips, cooking utensils, kitchen design and make over
sustainablepantry Sustainable Pantry
I have a jar of quinoa in the pantry and apart from a few attempts (some good, some not so good) I’m not really sure what to do with it. Sustainable pantry has recipes for just these kind of pantry staples.
eggbeater Egg Beater
This blog is written by an actual professional and as such is pretty hardcore – but some of the recipes…
annieseats Annie’s Eats
Can you be a working mum and cook real but awesome food? Annie can. And honestly, the recipes are to die for.
cakewreaks Cake Wrecks
Ok, not a food blog as such, but I can’t believe how hard I laugh at some of these photos!

I like Fatfree Vegan Kitchen. Im not a vegan, nor do I care about fat in my food, but her recipes are great and always work out really well.

As for your quinoa, put it in a rice cooker! I make burgers and soup out of it.

Hi, thanks for the heads up on the website (Fatfree Vegan) – looks good!. I’m not vegan either (and think fat is good :) ) but I also look for vegan recipes for something different.

Do you just add the quinoa to soups?

    Hello Melissa,

Best Recipes.com.au is another site very much like Taste.com.au I have used recipes from both. Another blog I love is Mennonite girls can cook with lots of nice pics. Also Tammy’s Kitchen has wholesome home-made fare with pics. Neither of the last two are in the fat-free category :-) but often have good tutorials and pics of their recipes. Drool worthy!! :-)

Glad to hear you are keeping well as you cheerfully await your new arrival! Try to enjoy the time and relax because it is full on from here on.
My firstborn turned 20 today so I am feeling a bit old.

Take care, it is always nice to drop by and visit your blog.

    Kind regards,
    Kaye

Hi, I loved the sites you mentioned – I baked a biscuit slice from Tammy’s Kitchen yesterday and it was delicious. DH likes me getting to know all these food blogs too. :) And it keeps me busy while waiting.

    Hi Melissa,

I like Chef Jeenas blog. She caters to lots of different eating requirments (vegetatian, vegan, meat eaters and “free” diets (gluten, egg, sugar, wheat, dairy etc). All her recipes come with step by step pictures so its they’re a breeze to follow.

    Hi ya,

My favourite Australian site is Exclusively Food. Lots of step by step pictures for simple food. I do enjoy all the others you mentioned. I love to bake. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to eat all the yummy things so I give them away. So….I’m always testing to make sure what I send out is not blah.
