Instead of use once, throw away, wash your plastic bags and reuse them. This is especially good for those strong plastic zip lock bags. Wash them along with your dishes and hang them over your cuttlery, or on the clothes line to dry. Get the family involved and train them to bring their lunch bags home each day. Avoid reusing your plastic bags if they have had raw meat stored in them. This not only saves money on plastic bags, it reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
