You could make a chocolate pudding by adding cocoa powder and swapping the golden syrup for a little extra boiling water. Or you could try brown rice syrup. I've only just started using brown rice syrup, so I'm not sure how it will go (brown rice syrup isn't quite as sweet), but you could always give it a go and see.
